Undercover federal agents were among the people milling around the Democrats' 5th District nominating convention last month when the party endorsed House Speaker Chris Donovan, D-Meriden, to run for the 5th District seat, the Connecticut Post reports.
The undercover agents were part of an FBI probe into alleged finance irregularities in Donovan's campaign. About two weeks ago Donovan's campaign finance director, Robert Braddock Jr., by federal authorities on charges he sought to hide the identity of some of the campaign's financial donors. Braddock's arrest about whether some donors were seeking to buy Donovan's influence in the legislature.
any knowledge of the campaign finance irregularities and has said he at no time sought to sell his influence.
