According to a report in the Hartford Courant, Donovan received 216 votes at a party convention held in Waterbury tonight.
The 5th District race is being closely watched in the state and nationally because the field has been wide open with the decision by Democrat Chris Murphy, who currently serves the 5th District, to run for U.S. Senate. The Republican primary for the 5th District will be held in August.
