Meriden Storm Update: Sunday, February 10

Meriden City Manager Lawrence Kendzior gave the following update at 8 a.m.

Work continued through the night, but progress is very slow because of the depth of the snow and the necessity to assist in emergency medical responses. Our estimate is that about 25% of the roads are accessible. Crews had a short rest period early this morning and should be going back out on the streets about now. All Public Works crews are working and we are diverting enough Parks and Public Utilities crews to make sure that all available equipment is being used to open the roads. This may mean that sidewalks, parking lots, etc. are not being done but at this point getting the roads open for tomorrow is the main issue. Roads are not being opened to their full width, so travel remains difficult.

We have made arrangements with Macri roofing to clear flat roofs before tomorrow's rainstorm.

We will try to get out a reverse 911 message later today to bring people up to date. Not sure how overloaded the State system is, so this may take a while.
