Meriden Swears In Its New Mayor, Manny Santos

Republican Manny Santos was sworn in Monday morning as Meriden's new mayor.

Manny Santos, who defeated Michael S. Rhode in November's municipal elections, was sworn in as the mayor of Meriden Monday at City Hall.

"My election last month is evidence that this city yearns for change," Santos said at his inauguration ceremony. "Changing the way city hall is run, the way we administer services and in the way we politicize everything."

Santos, who is the first Republican mayor of Meriden in 30 years, is a mechanical engineer by trade and is a father of two children who both attend Meriden's public schools, according to his website. He is a Desert Storm veteran from the Untied States Marine Corps, according to the website.
