Murphy to Hold ‘Government Helps Expo’ in Middletown

Connecticut's junior senator is hosting a help expo for residents needing assistance negotiating federal red tape.

Need help negotiating a path through federal red tape?

On April 16, U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy will hold a constituent services expo in Middletown for those who need assistance with a government agency or other matters.

Murphy and his casework staff will host constituents at the MG Maurice Rose Armed Forces Center, 375 Smith St., to help them with matters related to federal agencies — such as the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, the Social Security Administration, and the Department of Homeland Security.

Murphy’s casework staff is focused on ensuring that constituents’ rights are respected, that they receive the benefits they are owed, and that any procedural errors they encounter with federal services are corrected.

“While Washington is mired in maddening levels of partisan gridlock, helping people in Connecticut deal with federal agencies and get what they’re owed is the most rewarding work that a congressional office does,” Murphy said in a statement.

Murphy added, “Contacting a Member of Congress to help navigate the federal government might not be the first thing that comes to mind, but I hope people across the state who need help will attend this expo to get the help they need. That’s what we’re here for.”

The help expo will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, in the Assembly Hall of the Armed Forces Center. Murphy is expected to attend the session about noon.
