Sen. Bartolomeo to Tour Roger Sherman Elementary School Today

Legislator will meet with education and public safety officials to discuss efforts in Hartford to improve school safety in the wake of the Newtown massacre.

 

State Sen. Dante Bartolomeo (D-13th) will meet with local education and public safety officials this afternoon at Roger Sherman Elementary School in order to gain insights and advice on ways to improve school and student safety in the wake of December's horrific school shooting in Newtown.

Sen. Bartolomeo, who is Senate Chairwoman of the Children's Committee, was recently appointed to the school safety subcommittee of the legislature's Bipartisan Task Force on Gun Violence Prevention and Children's Safety.

She will use some of the input she receives from this Meriden discussion to make legislative recommendations to the Task Force.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
