State workers who were either fired by the administration of Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, or retired or resigned, amid allegations they fraudulently got state assistance following Tropical Storm Irene will get their jobs back, a state arbitrator has ruled.
In all, there were 40 workers who left their jobs earlier this year, either voluntarily or not and some earning more than $100,000 annually, after Malloy officials accused them of lying to get free state assistance following the devastating storm that left some state residents without power for more than a week.
However, the arbitrator has determined that the workers should get their jobs back because they mistakenly filled out the assistance forms and did not intend to commit fraud, according to the Connecticut Mirror.
The workers, however, will not be given back pay for their lost wages and will have to make restitution for the Irene assistance they received.
