This Week's City Meetings: Board of Education to Discuss All-Day K Tuesday

It's a hot week for city meetings, with the Board of Education slated to make a final decision on All-Day Kindergarten, while the City Council will be discussing a host of issues.

Monday -

The Meriden Public Library Board meets at 4:30 p.m. in the library's board room. Members are slated to discuss the proposed budget and capitol improvement projects for fiscal year 2012/2013.

The City Council meeting tonight at 7 p.m. has been moved to the top floor of the Board of Education building across the street. Councilors will be discussing a host of issues, from extending the term of the city's golf pro Robert Tiedemann, to allocating funds for pavement of about 30 small streets in Meriden which are often neglected due to their size and low amount of traffic. There will also be a presentation to Navy Veteran Raymond Owsianik, who was the first to Meriden Resident to enlist in WWII following the bombing of Pearl Harbor, according to the agenda. Following the meeting will be the council's quarterly open forum session in which the public can speak to the council on non-agenda items.
