Two Meriden Officers Face Disciplinary Hearings

Officials are going through with disciplinary hearings against a pair of Meriden officers after a federal judge denied their request to block them.

The two officers, Brian Sullivan and Donald Huston, had requested an injunction in federal court, but were denied after Judge Stefan Underhill said the officers did not provide proof the hearings were adverse to their jobs, the Record-Journal reported.

The newspaper reported that both Sullivan and Huston were the two officers who sent a letter to Meriden's city manager in 2011 complaining of nepotism and cover-up as it related to Evan Cossette, the son of the city's police chief.

Cossette was arrested and later found guilty at trial of using unnecessary force against an inmate.

The Record-Journal reported that the letter Sullivan and Huston issued contained allegations that were not substantiated, and were later subjects of an internal investigation, leading to charges against both of the officers.
