U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy paid a visit to Meriden where he was given a tour by local officials on specific areas of need in the city.
The tour included visiting some areas that have seen notable flooding in recent years, particularly with Hurricane Sandy and Tropical Storm Irene. The purpose of the visit, as both Murphy and local officials indicated, was to see what opportunities would be available for federal assistance to combat these flooding problems.
Also the senator visited the Meriden Boys & Girls Club in an unscheduled stop to see what the program does for the city's youth.
Check back with Meriden Patch later for a larger story and photos about the visit.
