In East Hampton, 263 'Townhomes' For Sale

The project includes 30 percent of affordable housing.

Looking for a condo? How about 263? If you’re in the market to take over a condominium development project, there’s one in East Hampton that’s for sale. All you have to do is buy it and build it.

Hampton Woods, a previously approved 263-unit “townhome” development off Route 66, just east of Bear Swamp Road, is being marketed by Prudential CT Realty for nearly $5 million.

The project is situated on a little over 63 acres at 206 East High St.

The development was proposed and is owned by developer Peter Carli and was narrowly approved by the town’s Planning and Zoning Commission in June of 2010. Under the plan, the townhomes would be built on about 14 acres and the remaining land would be kept as open space.

The project also includes a provision that 30 percent of the units be offered as “affordable housing.” Hampton Woods was developed under a state law that requires towns to accept affordable housing projects. East Hampton several years ago sought to fight such developments here, but lost. This would be the town’s third affordable housing projects.

Won't be long now until prime ocean front & gated communities have it too. If I was on the public dole, I would have to be nuts to take a job for less than $50K. Not saying they currently get that much, but the difference would not warrant the effort to go to work, travel expences, lunch, clothing, having to deal with a "Boss",and of course, the priveledge to pay ones own way.

And yet Connecticut voters keep on putting the very politicians in office that are responsible for all the "free" benifits for not working. Ask the "takers", why should they work when Obama and lemmings keep giving away the real taxpayers money. No incentive, why work?

There's plenty of "blame" to go around for these groups. What is really before us, the "sheople" who pick up the tab with hard-earned tax money, is abuse of a system purportedly put in place by our "elected representatives" to "help" those that are supposedly or really disadvantaged. This is where the anger should be focused - on the scum bag politicians who work these deals out of public purview. Then as the "white envelope" disappears into the inside pocket they whistle a happy tune while we wonder what just happened. Sheople are too apathetic or just plain too dumb to care and these parasites know it. There's dinner to make and consume, soccer practice, Monday night football, etc. too many things to do to get involved. Just roll with it folks. There's lots more where Hampton Woods came from...
