Interviews are scheduled to be conducted the week of September 23rd. Representatives from stakeholder groups will have the opportunity to meet the candidates and submit input to the board about each of them. The board intends to make their selection by September 30, 2013.

Groton Public Schools retained the services of McPherson & Jacobson L.L.C. to assist in conducting the search. The consultants reviewed applicants’ experience and qualifications.

They also conducted extensive background checks, screening applicants against the board’s criteria and the community’s input on desired skills, qualities and characteristics. On Aug. 26, the consultants presented the applicants to the board of education and provided detailed background information on those that best fit the board’s criteria and community’s interests.

The board selected three candidates as finalists.

After the superintendent has been hired, McPherson & Jacobson consultant Sharon Cox will facilitate a Board/Superintendent workshop to assist in the establishment of performance objectives for the new superintendent.
