Children Can Spend Their Winter Vacation With Dinosaurs

A special program is being offered at Dinosaur State Park during winter vacation for children and parents alike.

Dinosaur State Park will offer special events during the December school vacation break, Dec. 27-31, as part of its “The Wild Inside” program.

The program will feature arts and crafts, films, discussions and animal demonstrations. The crafts will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and each participant can take their creation home. Park staff will host a “Track Talk,” or an animal demonstration, at 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. each day.

The main attraction of the week is a live crocodile and alligator show on Dec. 29 at 1 p.m. The 45-minute show is recommended for children above the age of five and is included in the price of admission. However, only 100 park visitors will be allowed into the show.

“The Wild Inside” program is sponsored by the Friends of Dinosaur State Park and Arboretum.

Visitors to Dinosaur State Park during the December vacation will also be able to view “The Wild Inside” related exhibits and more than 500 early Jurassic dinosaur footprints, walk the outdoor trails and visit the gift shop.

The park will be open on Dec. 24 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The price of admission is $6 for adults and children over the age of 13, $2 for children between the ages of six to 12 and children five and under is free.
