Meriden Public Schools Closed Wednesday

Continued power outages will close Meriden schools for a third day.

It's official: Meriden's public schools will be closed Wednesday, according to schools Superintendent Mark Benigni.

"The schools are all ready to go, but it's a power issue," Benigni said Tuesday morning, as the city's outage rate stayed at 82 percent. "The rest of the week still depends on CL&P restoring power in the City of Meriden."

Schools currently with power are Lincoln Middle School, Hanover Elementary School, and Ben Franklin Elementary School. Edison is being run on a generator.
