Photos: Pulaski Heads Back In Time For Variety Show

Students, Faculty and Parents sing and dance in "Decades" Variety Show at Casimir Pulaski Elementary School.

Although Michael Jackson’s spooky “Thriller” video was produced nearly 20 years before they were born, the students of Casimir Pulaski Elementary School pulled off the 80’s pop song with aplomb Friday night, complete with full zombie garb.

Along with "Hand Jive,” "Hoedown Throwdown,” and the finale, "We Are the World,” the song was one of the big crowd pleasers at the school’s “Decades” variety show. Held in Pulaski’s gymnasium, the show featured students, teachers, parents and school staff performing a revue of popular music from the 1940s to the present day.

For more than an hour the performers danced, told jokes, played musical instruments, and even recreated many popular television commercials to a full house.

Kindergarten teacher Maura Graham produced and directed the show, and even the school’s Principal Tom Brown got into the act as the master of ceremonies by playing the house DJ/radio announcer and introducing the upcoming acts.  Brown also informed the audience about the musical styles from the different decades and the impact it had on the nation’s culture.

After the show, Graham gave credit for the success of the event to all the volunteers who helped with the production, props, refreshments, decoration, ticket sales,  and a special donation of professional lights and sound donated by parent J.R. Benitez.
