Rotary Selects Essay and Speech Winners
Meriden's Rotary Club held its annual essay and speaking contest Tuesday night.
Six Meriden teens were awarded scholarships in the Meriden Rotary Club's annual essay and speech contest Tuesday night at Sheraton Four Points, according to the club.
The club asked residents in grades 9 through 12 to write essays or prepare speeches, due Jan. 5, on the prompt "Do you care about ethical standards?"
On Tuesday night, those who entered speeches gave them in a "speak off," and both types of entrants were judged and recieved awards. First place in either category received a scholarship for $1,000, second $500, third was $250.
