Storm Days Change School Calendar

Hurricane Irene cancellations have pushed the school year two days forward.

The Board of Education approved tacking on two days to the end of the 2011-2012 school calendar, Tuesday night, in response to the of the district's first day caused by tropical storm Irene.

Power outages of school from August 29 to August 31, so the last day of school will be pushed back from June 12 to June 14.

This means that instead of considering the two cancelled days snow days, the school merely bumps its calendar forward, retaining its ability to make up the first six snow days by adding five of them to the end of the school year. (The first snow day does not have to be made up, as the district puts one extra day in the school calendar to make up for it each year.)

Any additional snow days will be deducted from April vacation, starting at the end of that week.
