What have you learned in school that makes you a better writer? I have learned a lot in the past few years making me a better writer.  I learned punctuation, capitalization and grammar.  Writing an essay for the Irish Essay contest helped me to become a better writer even though I didn’t win.

What is your favorite book? I would say that I don’t have a favorite book, but I do have a favorite series:  The Goosebumps series.

What do you like to do outside of school? I like to do a lot of things outside of school.  I love to play basketball; it is my favorite sport.  I play basketball on my school team.  I also love to dance.  I take hip-hop lessons at United Rhythms, and I love it!  I have dance every Friday. In addition, I love to hang out with my friends whenever I can.

Giuliana’s Writing:

The Battle Between the Cakes

Everyone has a birthday, and everyone deserves a birthday cake.  There are so many different kinds, and there are so many great tasting ones, but which ones are actually healthy?

My two favorite types of cakes would be regular vanilla cake and vanilla ice cream cake, but I would have to say ice cream cake is a little better for you. Ice cream cake is awesome in the summer and spring especially because it is hot outside. I took a survey of over twenty people, and found that most people like vanilla ice cream cake the best.

Ice cream cake is actually healthier then regular cake in different ways.  I found that in one serving of Dairy Queen ice cream cake there are 240 calories, 9 grams of fat, 34 grams of carbohydrates, and 5 grams of protein.  In one serving of chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, there are 235 calories, 10.5 grams of fat, 34.94 grams of carbohydrates, and 2.62 grams of protein.

Now, what would you rather have: a cake that is not exciting to eat and can have unpleasant frosting that is too sweet, or a cake that is good for you? If I were you, I would pick ice cream cake.
