What have you learned in school that makes you a better writer? I’ve learned many things that make me a better writer, such as, restating evidence from a passage and writing detailed paragraphs.

What is your favorite book? My favorite book is the Rick Reordan series, The Last Hero.

What do you like to do outside of school? I like to play a sport called capoeira, a Brazilian martial arts.

Book Review for The Lost Hero

The book I read was The Lost Hero. The author of this book is Rick Riordan. In this story, Jason is a kid who doesn't remember a thing before waking up in a bus filled with "bad kids" who go to a wilderness school. Everything goes wrong one day on a field trip to the Grand Canyon; wild monsters start to attack everyone. Piper, Leo and Jason go on a mythical quest to stop an evil Greek monster who wants to destroy the Earth. They must conquer the monster and at least make it back to camp.

This book was interesting to me because it discusses both Greek and Roman gods such as Zeus, the god of the sky and ruler of the gods. Personally, I wouldn't mind being a god because they are immortal; so it would be cool to live forever. I learned about both Roman and Greek gods in just one book. This book is filled with action and mystery and it entertained and informed me. It would be a great book for a mother to read to her children so that their imaginations flourish and the characters come to life. The book is a 4.5 Reading Level and it is worth 19.0 Accelerated Reader points. If this is the book for you, then you can find The Lost Hero at your public library.  Please make sure to read the reviews of this book on “Destiny” because this is an excellent book and everyone should read it.

 If you read the other Rick Riordan series, and enjoyed them, then you will love this entire new series. Also, if you like The Lost Hero, then you should check out the second book entitled The Son of Neptune. It will be published in fall 2011 and I would recommend this book for students of all ages.
