Video: Back to School Expo Draws More Than 1,000 Kids

Tuesday's eighth annual back to school expo at the downtown HUB provided Meriden school children with free school supplies and information on programs and social services.

More than 1,000 Meriden children and their parents came out to the downtown HUB for the city's eighth annual Tuesday.

Meriden students going into pre-k through eighth grade received free backpacks filled with grade-appropriate supplies and were encouraged to visit the more than 30 vendors at the show, ranging from the Meriden Health Department to Valentin Karate.

The event was organized by the Meriden/Wallingford NAACP and Beat the Streets Community Center.
