Meriden Student Athletes Honored by Sports League

The CAS-CIAC recently recognized scholar-athletes from high schools throughout the region.

Ivan Lukic and Jamie Erdman of Maloney High School and Peter Piech and Jillian Pascale of O.H. Platt High School were among many student athletes honored recently by the CAS-CIAC for their exemplary academic and athletic careers have been exemplary.

Each year, the league recognizes two seniors from each high school - one boy and one girl - whose personal standards and achievements are a model to others, and who possess high levels of integrity, self-discipline and courage.

Since its inception, the Annual Connecticut High School Scholar-Athlete Awards Program and Banquet has honored more than 4,000 outstanding graduating seniors in Connecticut high schools.

The banquet at the Aqua Turf in Plainville was sponsored by McDonald's. McDonald's is a 29-year sponsor of the program.

  • Cheshire - Brendan Smalec, Anna Frenzilli
  • Rocky Hill - Andrus Maandi, Megan Ruonavaara
  • Southington - Kyle Connolly, Laura Wilcox
  • Wilcox Tech - Jose Delgado, Cassondra Acampora
