Former State Senator Len Suzio, who led the successful fight to cap Connecticut's "hidden" gas tax in 2012 today blasted the Malloy Administration for worsening the jobs climate in Connecticut because of the Administration's failure to request a waiver for a record-breaking unemployment tax increase.

"Connecticut already has been rated one of the worst states for business and job creation in the entire country. Now we have yet another reason to make employers reluctant to come to Connecticut or stay here. Because the Malloy Administration failed to file a request for waiver the Federal Unemployment taxes paid by Connecticut businesses who employ Connecticut workers, the Federal Unemployment Tax will increase to the highest unemployment tax rate in the country", said Suzio.

"This is yet another reason for companies not to come to Connecticut to create jobs. This is a jobs-killing failure that was preventable", Suzio continued.

"To add insult to injury, all the Malloy Administration had to do was to request a waiver like Connecticut and other states have done before and the increase could have been avoided. Connecticut families need more jobs but this tax increase will be another nail in the coffin for the state with the slowest economic recovery since the recession", Suzio concluded.
