Get Connected: Volunteering Has Never Been Easier

Middlesex United Way launches new online volunteer opportunities database to help increase volunteerism.

Middlesex United Way has launched Get Connected, a new online platform for individuals and groups who want to take action in their community by reaching out and lending a hand through volunteering.

Nonprofit organizations looking for volunteers can use Get Connected to create one-time or ongoing opportunities, manage referrals, and record volunteer hours. Volunteers can also register and search the site by keyword, agency, or length of volunteer commitment.

 “Middlesex Habitat for Humanity is proud to be a partner with Middlesex United Way’s Get Connected” said Jack Doyle, Volunteer Coordinator, Middlesex County Habitat for Humanity. “We get many referrals which turn into great volunteers for both ReStore and at construction sites. The system is easy to work with and provides great results.”

Some examples of the opportunities that are currently available include:

  • Adelbrook, mentors and office volunteers;
  • Gluten Intolerance Group of Shoreline East, public relations expert on a project basis;
  • Literacy Volunteers of Central Connecticut, volunteer tutors for ESOL and BL;
  • Mosaic in Cromwell, volunteers to help out in their group homes; and
  • Middlesex United Way, volunteers to participate on a Community Impact Team.
