Built in 1711, the Solomon Goffe House is the oldest home in Meriden. This New England saltbox-style dwelling is a National Historic Landmark. Currently used as a historical museum, the interior of the home reflects life in the 18th century, complete with hearth cooking in the kitchen and a spinning and weaving room upstairs. A checkerboard with corncob checkers always stands at the ready. Outside the home, the landscaping includes an herb garden, like those common in the 1700s. To take a tour, call for an appointment.
