<p>Long a fearsome competitor in the Central Connecticut steamed burger wars, the Lunch Box got a shot of new life when Anita Dufresne – a registered nurse – took over the famed restaurant in 2010. The sliver of a diner on East Main and Clinton Street has been serving aficionados of this local dish since 1943.</p> <p>Dufresne tweaked the storied cheeseburger with an aged cheddar and added some new dishes like eggs Benedict to the menu – changes that are bringing new customers in but still satisfying the long-faithful, she says.</p>
