"So there were one or two woman of color among 150-200 protesters" you insist onRead More continuing with your illogical deductions. Why is it always about race with you knuckle-draggers?
Johnny Walker July 22, 2014 at 07:28 pm
I find it interesting that the idiot average Joe believes anyone who owns a gun is a goon or violentRead More psychopath. I'm wondering if that includes police, military personal or others who protect the innocent. The arrogance that most liberals have - that only the elite can be trusted with dangerous responsibilities really bothers me. If you don't like guns and you don't believe they can be used for personal protection and sporting and hobbies then simply don't partake in owning a gun. But don't try and impinge my liberty if I believe guns protect my family or I enjoy target shooting or hunting. Just as I firmly believe some books and music incite violence and cause people to act out I don't try and outlaw those books. That is the issue here. Most of the people protesting against guns have NEVER been a victim of crime, they've never been in combat and they've never worked in law enforcement but they believe they know what is best for all of us. That's the problem. Many people in CT have guns most don't advertise it or even mention it. Those people will be voting this November and after that election many liberals will be humbled.
Bobbie July 22, 2014 at 08:02 pm
I've outgrown fairy tales, Johnny - apparently, you have not. The majority of gun owners areRead More hunters and target shooters???? right. and I have yet to meet a gun owner who did not establish their ownership within the first 30 mins of conversation. I don't have to be shot to know that bullets kill. and let's look at it this way, Johnny, my vote is going to cancel yours. See you in November. I'll be the one standing on the Winner's platform.

In Woodbury it is the stress of the property values decreasing and the ever increasing of taxes.Read More People can not afford their taxes now. This years shell game, the First Selectman and the BOF Chair want everyone to believe that only 40% of the taxpayers taxes are going up. 40% increase in stress in those people's lives. Hi everyone here. What Christine Coleman said is very true though i may not know her. I experiencedRead More it first hand also. It was this organization called consumer loan firm (C.L.f)that really helped me to pay my medical bills when i was in dare need of money because i am a widow. A friend of my also directed me to them. when i was about to do a major operation and i had no money at that time, they came to my rescue and in less than 48 hours, i got my loan. But to say the truth, i was nervous and scared at first because i have been scammed twice. But when i summoned up courage and follow their lending policies along with my friends advice, at the end i found myself smiling. If not for them, maybe i would have been dead by now. I have even taken another loan from them start my business after my recovery which i am also paying back now. My only advice now is that any body who is really in need of loan should contact them with their email via: consumerloanfirm@gmail.com and get a loan from them. Thanks
This guy deserves his bad reputation.

My experience is not anecdotal, that is usually a one time situation. My experience spans 25 years,Read More in different industries, and being part of hiring thousands of people at all different job levels. I am sure there are companies who have discriminated but they are few and far between. With all the women in HR positions all over this country, if this was news, it would have been made news long ago. Plus, people are litigious and companies are not going to risk that. In addition, since I have been privy to employee lawsuits, I never saw ONE that had to do with pay disparity with men. Sometimes they had to do with sexual harrassment, however the biggest number, according to statistics, is retaliation for being on leave, and that has nothing to do with gender.

Frank in bury. If you are old enough to remember the O,Neil budget fiasco that resulted in theRead More implementation of the state income tax of 4.5%, the alternative was a 12% sales tax. That sales tax would have been also paid predominantly by Fairfield County residents. They carry, financially, the other 8 counties in Connecticut.
arkay July 22, 2014 at 12:57 am
@Gus, counties don't actually mean anything in CT, just geographic borders. Bridgeport is as much ofRead More a money suck as any city in the state, and that's in FFC. There's plenty of affluent communities in New Haven, Hartford, Litchfield counties (and elsewhere) that pay their fair share. Fairfield County does pay a proportionally high amount of taxes, but that is in a select few towns - definitely not northern or eastern FFC, which is more in line with other parts of the state.
Gus R. Horvath July 22, 2014 at 11:55 am
arkay. I was born and grew up in Bridgeport in the 1930s to1960s when it was known as the park city.Read More It was not the drag on Fairfield County it is today. And Lisa thank you for the tip. Please I don't mean to say we are starving. Looking around at otherRead More people in the same boat I guess you could say we are lucky (although hard work helped). I understand what you mean. But sometimes I feel as though the people we view as at theRead More "bottom" in some sense, are the ones who need the most help. I'm not even convinced that living here would be the best thing for them, particularly if they are entering a hostile environment. On a similar topic, the German half of my family fled a war torn country in 1950 and came to the U.S. Needless to say, Germans were not very well liked at that time. But of anyone, it was a Jewish man who gave my grandfather a job. He could easily have turned my grandfather away, but didn't. And for that, I am grateful. Different situation, of course. Aside from all of that, I agree the whole situation with immigration is a giant mess for everyone involved and hopefully gets somewhat resolved soon.
