Some people think that Thanksgiving is all about getting together with your family or cooking a big dinner; even though that is what you do on Thanksgiving, that’s not what Thanksgiving is about. Thanksgiving is a day to give thanks to God. I am thankful for many things, but the three most important things to me are my family, my friends, and my cousins’ health.
I am thankful for my family because they support me in everything I do. Even though I get punished, I still love my family. I’m very proud of my family and my mom’s family because it is like they have been on a rollercoaster the past year. Good things and bad things have happened. Ever since my great uncle passed away, things have been really hectic, but I am so proud that my family has gotten through it. Basically, the only good thing that has happened is my dad getting a promotion and my baby cousin is healthy. No matter what, I will always have a special place in my heart for my family.
I am thankful for my friends because I know they will always have my back. They support me, and they cheer me up when I am sad. They are there for me when I need them most, and I know they always will be. One other reason I am thankful for them is because they make me who I am today. Without them, I don’t know who I would be. They push me to do things I would never think of doing on my own. Sometimes we argue or we push each other around, but no matter what, you will never find a friendship like ours.
The last and most important thing that I am thankful for is my cousin’s health. Earlier in October, my cousin had to have major open heart surgery. My cousin is only fourteen years old, so it is very rare. Either during or after the surgery, she had a stoke which paralyzed the entire left side of her body. Ever since then she has been in rehab. When I first found out she might be paralyzed for her whole life, I started crying. I was so afraid she wouldn’t be able to do the things she loved like ice skating and dancing. I prayed for her every night. I am so thankful that she is almost fully recovered and that she got out of rehab on November 15th. I am super excited to see her this Christmas.
There is only one being I can thank for everything. That person is God. Without God, nothing would be possible. I am thankful for many more things but I would be here all day naming them. Remember to always be thankful for everything you have because some kids don’t have anything. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
